Wright is originally from Hammond Indiana, but played college ball at the university of Texas where he was a 3 year letterman. Wright was a second round NBA draft pick by the Phoenix Suns. Wright went on to play in a number of countries in Asia and Europe as well as in the Australian NBL.
After playing, Wright started his coaching career. From 2002 to present, has won more games than any other coach in the NBL.

His coaching career has included some impressive stats

  • 3 X NBL Coach of the Year (2004, 2007, 2017).

  • Third coach in the NBL history that has reached 500 games behind Hall of Famers Brian Goorjian, and Lindsay Gaze. Since entering the NBL as a coach in 2003 has coached more games than any coach.

  • Coached a team with the all-time NBL consecutive win record with 21 consecutive wins.

  • The only coach in NBL history to lead teams from three different cities into the Semi Finals.

  • Started coaching in the NBL in 2003, and has coached teams to more wins than any other coach in that time (284).

We cannot thank them enough for their support in allowing us to provide such amazing opportunities for coaches to learn from esteemed coaches such as Joey Wright.
There will be 2x 90-minute sessions at the ARC Campbelltown. Both sessions will feature on court and meeting room, workshop components. There will also be online content provided to coaches as part of the coach development program to assist them beyond the session.
The first session will be targeted at Aussie Hoops, Under 8 and Under 10 coaches, with a focal point being on the beginner fundamentals.

The second session will be for Under 12 and up coaches, with somewhat of a more advanced theme for coaches. Coaches are welcome to attend both if they so wish.
